ENJOYING THE FRUITS (AND VEGETABLES) OF THEIR LABORS – Vendors at Collegeville’s Farmers Market, just west of DaVinci’s Pub at 215 E. Main St., seemed to be doing brisk business Saturday (May 25, 2013) as area residents turned out to buy and bring fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and breads to their tables at home. A bounty of mustard greens, radishes and lettuce (above) were among the offerings presented by Jubilee Hill Farm. Potential customers sampled loaves of newly baked bread with a tasty spread (below) as the market’s Kathy Newkirk made change for a shopper’s purchase.
Dean, a representative of the organic farm at Ursinus College, answered a patron’s questions (above), while at another vendor canning jars filled with sweet jams and jellies beckoned to buyers in a variety of bright colors (below). The market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October.
