LIMERICK PA – You’re never too young to help your community, and by young, the Spring Valley YMCA means pre-schoolers too.
The Spring Valley Y’s Wooden Shoe nursery school program will hold a fund-raiser Friday (April 19, 2013) from 1-2 p.m. in which participants circle the running track at the facility, 19 W. Linfield-Trappe Rd., to raise money that will provide scholarship aid for less-fortunate classmates. Each of the runners, walkers and joggers have pledges from financial sponsors for their rounds on the track.
Some of them, according to the Y, will be pre-schoolers themselves.
“This special event will promote good health, exercise and nutrition for all youth involved in the run-walk,” said Omoiye Kinney of the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, of which the Spring Valley Y is among 15 branches. “Through this event, the Y will be able to provide more opportunities for youth to learn, grow and thrive,” Kinney said.
Naturally, the environment will also be one that’s fun, safe, and well-monitored, added Freedom Valley Marketing Coordinator Brienne Ryan.
