Pennsylvania Plans First Women Veterans Symposium

HARRISBURG PA – Pennsylvania women who are current members or veterans of the U.S. Armed Services can attend the first PA Women Veterans Symposium, scheduled to be held March 8-10 (2013) at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg PA, the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs said Thursday (Dec. 13, 2012). It is co-sponsoring the event with the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation.

Pennsylvania Plans First Women's Veterans SymposiumThe cost is only $10, and includes meals, a hotel room and all symposium programs.

“Women have become the fastest growing population within the veteran community, yet many of them don’t think they are eligible for VA benefits,” Brig. Gen. Mike Gould, the state’s deputy adjutant general for veterans’ affairs, said. “Our goal for the symposium is to address the unique needs of Pennsylvania’s female veterans and give them the tools they need to transition back to civilian life.”

The event will feature informative general and breakout sessions, a health and wellness fair, and an opportunity to meet and network with fellow female veterans. The foundation is seeking sponsors, donors, vendors and exhibitors as underwriters; for more information, call Barbara Riggs at 717-861-8452.

Registration information is available online, here. All registrations must be received by Feb. 15 (2013).
