MONT CLARE PA – The annual holiday luminaria display along the towpath of the Schuylkill Canal, from its Route 29 entrance to inside the Locktender’s House, is scheduled for Dec. 15 (2012; Saturday) from 6-9 p.m. at the canal park in Mont Clare, Schuylkill Canal Association Executive Director Betsy Daley announced Monday (Dec. 3).
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
The display “is one of the most spectacular light shows of the holiday season,” Daley said, featuring more than 1,500 luminary bags with lit candles that line Towpath Road, and extend around Lock 60 and the Locktender’s House to provide “a clear passage for visitors.”
Inside the house, the musical group “Meadowlark” will present a caroling program to which guests can sing along. Santa will be on hand to visit with children and hear “their dreams and desires,” Daley added. A small bag of treats and trinkets will be given to each child.
Additionally, the association is selling luminary bags as a fund-raiser, for a donation of $1 per bag or $5 for 6 bags. The luminary bags will be pre-assembled and ready-to-go for use at area homes. An association volunteer will be stationed at the Locktender’s House to offer bags to those interested.
