NORRISTOWN PA – Free Social Security benefits training sessions, designed to assist persons with disabilities in maximizing their Social Security benefits while maintaining employment, will be offered this month by the Montgomery County Office of Developmental Disabilities.
The three-part training series will be held Monday (Oct. 15, 2012) and Thursday (Oct. 18) from 6-9 p.m. at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, 1605 W. Main St., Eagleville PA; and Saturday (Oct. 20) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Norristown Public Library, 1001 Powell St., Norristown.

The sessions will be conducted by Michael Walling, who is nationally known for his knowledge of Social Security benefit programs and their associated medical benefits. Covered topics include:
- Understanding the difference between Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income;
- Understanding expectations for beneficiaries who are employed and collect Social Security Benefits; and
- Meeting those expectations through correct and accurate record keeping.
The training should be helpful to families, individuals with developmental disabilities, educators, employment providers, and others interested. Funding is provided through a Medicaid Infrastructure Grant to promote employment for people with disabilities through Pennsylvania’s Works For Me program.
