MAKING NEW FRIENDS – The place to make new friends and greet old ones Saturday (Sept. 22, 2012) in Collegeville PA certainly seemed to be the Collegeville Shopping Center. That’s where Main Street Collegeville, the borough’s downtown promotional and marketing organization, assembled its first Community-Wide Yard Sale in the parking lot fronting the vacant former Acme supermarket. More than 90 household vendors, and a thousand-or-so estimated visitors, patronized the sale and the nearby Collegeville Farmer’s Market. Among them were this woman and an area resident’s dog, who hadn’t met until that morning but got along fabulously. Hey, sometimes a soft scratch behind the ear is all it takes!
