Limerick Units 1 and 2
LIMERICK PA – Operators at Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station took its Unit 1 generator off-line early Saturday morning (Sept. 1, 2012) for what company Communications Manager Dana Melia said were “planned inspections of its low-pressure turbine blades.”
The inspections will help ensure the station “continues to operate safely, efficiently and reliably, and can only be performed when the unit is off-line,” Melia added. The unit was expected to be returned to service after the inspections, and any repairs and testing, were complete.
