PHOENIXVILLE PA – For all construction work needed to build its new borough hall – everything from bricks and mortar to pipes and wires, and the labor required to assemble it – Phoenixville Borough Council is asking for contractors to bid by Wednesday (May 23, 2012) on a single prime building contract.

The council’s call for submission of sealed bids by the deadline was repeated in a legal advertisement published May 9. The text of the notice appears below:

NOTICE

THE BOROUGH OF PHOENIXVILLE, 140 Church Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 invites the submission of sealed bids for a Single Prime Building Contract for All Work Required for the Construction of the New Phoenixville Borough Hall.

Bids will be received at the Phoenixville Borough Hall, 140 Church Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 through 11:00 A.M. (Prevailing Time) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 by the Secretary of the Borough Manager and will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately thereafter. Bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check, Cashier’s Check, or Bid Bond (together with a Consent of Surety) drawn to the order of the “Borough of Phoenixville” for not less than 10% of the Base Bid and all Alternate Bid(s) combined. Bids must be unconditional and no bidder may withdraw a bid within 60 days after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids. The Borough reserves the right to waive any informalities or nonmaterial defects or to reject any or all bids.

A separate non-refundable fee of $30.00 per disc will be charged for mailing and handling to Bidders if requested. Checks for Bidding Documents and a separate check for mailing and/or handling, when requested, shall be made payable to the “Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc.” Bidders should contact the Architect’s Office at 609-695-7400 to confirm details of availability of Bidding Documents.

The successful bidder shall pay no less than the prevailing minimum wage determination as established by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The successful bidder is required to ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex or natural origin.
