OAKS PA – “Fun with Fishing for Kids,” during which youngsters age 6-15 can learn the basics of fishing from Montgomery County park rangers, is a new program that will launch Saturday (April 21, 2012) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, on New Mill Road – off Egypt Road, near the Oaks exit of U.S. Route 422 – in Oaks PA.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
Rangers will teach kids about bobbers, types of bait, the safe use of fishing hooks, and the variety and use of fishing poles. Participants must be accompanied by an adult, bring their own equipment, and come dressed to be “down by the creek;” in other words, expect to be muddy and wet. A $2 donation is suggested per person.
Because all of the activity is being held outdoors, the event depends on good weather. Advance registration is required; call 610-666-5371 for more information. All Pennsylvania fish and boat regulations apply. Participants should meet at the park’s main pavilion.
Lower Perkiomen Valley Park is open year-round, from 8 a.m. to sunset, except on major holidays.
