Moms of multiples have their hands full
KING OF PRUSSIA PA – April is Multiple Birth Awareness Month, and members of the Valley Forge Mothers of Twins and Triplets Club are marking the occasion with an informational display at the Upper Merion Township building, by attending an April 22 Reading Phillies game with their families, and by hosting their organization’s state convention, the club reports.
Because multiple birth rates have risen 70 percent between 1980 and 2004, more families are faced with challenges that pertain to raising two, three or more children at the same time. The multiple birth month observances are intended to increase awareness about issues families face, including what to know when expecting multiples, Twin-to-Twin-Transfusion Syndrome, premature births and low birth weights, and twins with special needs.
