Church Leaders Invited To Health Ministries Workshop

WEST CHESTER PA – Churches and other faith communities across Chester County can learn how to address the holistic health needs of those both inside and outside of their congregations during a free workshop scheduled for March 24 (2012; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to noon at First Presbyterian Church, 130 W. Miner St., West Chester PA.

The Chester County Faith Community Nurse Network will host the orientation workshop for nurses, clergy members, church leaders and others interested in learning more about the role of faith community nurses, also known as parish nurses, and congregational health ministries.

LaVaida Owens-White, a long-time faith community nurse and health advocate in Delaware, will discuss wellness, disease prevention, and health promotion within the context of faith. She promotes development of a holistic – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual – approach.

More than 10,000 faith community nurses, both volunteer and paid, are estimated to be involved in this type of ministry in the United States. It is expected to become of greater importance as the nation’s population ages and family needs become more complex.

For more information or to register, call 610-696-6511 Ext. 113 by March 19.
