Foaming At The Mouth: Homebrewing’s Big In Montco

COLLEGEVILLE PA – Western Montgomery County is among the places where residents are now frothing at the mouth, literally, for the taste of home- and specialty-brewed beers, The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper reported Thursday (Feb. 16, 2012).

Take a sip from this flight, or any you fancy

Popular spots like the Appalachian Brew Pub in Collegeville, Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant as well as the Sly Fox Brewhouse and Eatery in Phoenixville, the Lucky Lab Tavern in Royersford, and the Craft Ale House in Limerick PA all are enjoying increased business from the products pouring from their taps.

Home brewers clubs – Stoney Creek Homebrewers Club, Bruclear in Limerick, Berks Homebrew Club, and Main Line Brewers Association – are attracting more members. And they’re being catered to by retail suppliers such as Weak Knee in the North End Shopping Center on North Charlotte Street in Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township, and Artisan Homebrew in Downingtown.

There’s also an ever-increasing number of contests that breweries both local and national are hosting across the Greater Philadelphia region.
