Spring City Veterans Home Benefits From ‘Cycle Run

POTTSTOWN PA – Two groups of Pottstown area and other veterans who each year conduct a charity fund-raiser to benefit the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City PA could use some public help.

The seventh annual motorcycle Poker Run conducted by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 565 of Pottstown, and the Freedom Riders of Montgomery County PA, will be held April 29 (2012; Sunday) beginning at 9 a.m. at the center, 1 Veterans Dr. The sponsors are looking for gifts or gift cards to distribute as prizes to participants.

Prizes help attract more riders, Julius Banyai of the Pottstown chapter explained in a letter distributed Tuesday (Feb. 14) by e-mail. More riders pay more entry fees. More entry fees mean the event helps pay for an increased number of day trips and activities for the center’s residents.

Last year’s ride resulted in a $1,200 contribution to the activities fund, Banyai reported. During the past five years, the ride has raised more than $5,000.

If you can made a donation, call Banyai at 610-369-9763. If you’re a motorcyclist and want to register for the ride, call the Freedom Riders at 610-327-1044.
