Pac Sun Says It Plans Store Closures; None Identified

LIMERICK PA – Pacific Sunwear of California Inc., which operates Pac Sun-brand stores at the Philadelphia Premium Outlet in Limerick as well as in Exton, King of Prussia, and Wyomissing PA, last week said it planned to close up to 200 stores during the next 14 months because their sales were less than desired, according to Reuters News Service.

The California-based chain declined to identify which of its more than 800 stores would close. The closures would help PacSun “focus on our targeted base of 550-600 better performing stores,” Chief Executive Gary Schoenfeld said in a statement published by Reuters.

PacSun also posted a third-quarter loss. It has been struggling in the wake of a weak economy, lackluster merchandise and promotions to attract shoppers.
