ROYERSFORD PA – The hunt to find a new mayor for the borough of Royersford PA is officially under way.
The borough announced Sunday (Sept. 11, 2011), in an advertisement in The (Pottstown PA) Mercury newspaper, that it has begun accepting resumes from persons interested in becoming mayor. The paper is a borough publication of record for legal notices. Current Mayor David Urner tendered his resignation from the position on Aug. 30, effective Oct. 1, saying he wanted to spend more time with his ailing wife.
Royersford’s legal notice encouraged anyone interested in the job to mail a letter of interest and accompanying resume to borough Council President Thomas Weikel at borough hall, 300 Main St., Royersford PA, 19468, by or before Sept. 27. Weikel earlier said the council must appoint Urner’s successor by Nov. 1. Urner’s elected term is scheduled to end Jan. 2, 2014.
Prospective candidates for the vacancy must be age 18 or older, a resident of the borough for at least one year, and a registered voter of the borough, according to the ad.
