ROYERSFORD PA – Borough Mayor David Urner has tendered his resignation, effective Sept. 30, in order to spend more time with his ailing wife, members of the Royersford (PA) Borough Council learned Tuesday night (Aug. 30, 2011), The Limerick Patch online news service reported.
Council Personnel Committee Chairman Charles Bowers read Urner’s resignation letter aloud during his report, and motioned to accept the mayor’s decision “with great regret.” Council members agreed. The mayor’s office becomes vacant Oct. 1; Council President Thomas Weikel made it clear Urner’s successor must be selected by Nov. 1, according to The Patch.
In his letter, Urner said he has enjoyed his eight years in the mayor’s office.
