ROYERSFORD PA – Volunteers from the Linfield (PA) Fire Company rushed Saturday afternoon (June 4, 2011) at 12:48 p.m. to the corner of Lewis and Royersford roads in Royersford to put out a blaze that erupted from the engine compartment of a black, four-door passenger car. It was parked on the east side lot of the Haines Service Center Inc. Sunoco gasoline station, 300 N. Lewis Rd.

Several pieces of apparatus from Linfield, as well as fire police, and police from Limerick and Royersford, were among the first responders. So far as could be observed at the scene, no one seemed injured but the vehicle was severely damaged. There were several small “pops” heard while the fire progressed, but there was no major explosion seen. The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. A cause was not immediately apparent.
The area surrounding the fire was heavy with people who congregated near the lot from a McDonald’s Restaurant on its west side, from residences across Royersford Road on its east, and from the shopping center on the south side of Lewis Road, in which Amelia’s Grocery Outlet is located. Most were taking pictures or video with cell phone cameras.
