PHOENIXVILLE PA – Explore the meadows and wetlands of Black Rock Sanctuary, 1059 Black Rock Rd., Phoenixville PA, as an experienced guide points out the first signs of several birds’ fall migration during a program scheduled for Nov. 20 (2010; Saturday) from 8-10 a.m. at the sanctuary off PA Route 113 between the Schuylkill River and Winding River Boulevard.
- This event has been added to The Post calendar.
The sanctuary represents a unique site along the birds’ Atlantic Flyway, according to Chester County Parks spokeswoman Vicki L. Rhine. During the walk visitors may see migrating warblers, vireos, orioles, and tanagers. Instructor Vincent Smith, a naturalist in Valley Forge and Audubon, will lead the group and discuss inhabitants of the wetland and meadow areas.
The program is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required. Registration forms can be downloaded from the county parks website, here, or can be completed by calling the park at 610-469-1916.
