Baking Contest Returns To 4-H Fair

From your kitchen to the 4-H tables?

COLLEGEVILLE PA – The annual baking contest of the Montgomery County 4-H Fair will be held Aug. 13 (2010; Friday) beginning at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds, located on Bridge Road (Route 113) in Collegeville PA, one mile south of Route 73 and Skippack village. This year’s theme is “Breads of the World.”

Entries must be homemade – no store-bought products are allowed – and can be submitted in the following categories: Yeast Breads, Quick Breads, Sweet Dough Breads and Bread Machine. An index card bearing the recipe must accompany the entry, along the entrant’s name and age.

Judging will be done on submissions from novices under age 8, youth ages 8-12, youth ages 13-18, and adults ages 19 and older. Entries with two or more participants of combined ages will be judged as a group.

Entries will be accepted beginning at 6 p.m., with judging beginning at 7.  Submissions should meet all food safety guidelines.
